These dual-voltage rail devices that meet automotive specifications and have obtained AEC-Q100 Grade 2 certification represent the first initiatives used in the automotive industry. As part of Diodes’ plan to continue to enter the automotive industry, these new devices provide engineers with simple solutions when additional I/O is required, while maintaining minimal interconnection, such as in ADAS, in-vehicle telematics, and infotainment. . The use of these devices eliminates the need for external voltage-to-potential converters, which simplifies the design of new ADAS and vehicle telematics systems, and also reduces BOM costs.

The operating voltage of these two devices on the GPIO port side is 1.65V to 5.5V. On the SCL/SDA side (I2C interface), the operating voltage of PI4IOE5V6416Q is 1.65V to 5.5V, and that of PI4IOE5V6534Q is 0.8V to 3.6V. This dual power rail allows the device to be connected to the new generation of low-power microchips on the SCL/SDA side. The standby current consumption of the expander is extremely low. PI4IOE5V6416Q is 1.5μA at 5V, 1μA at 3.3V, and PI4IOE5V6434Q is 2μA at 3.3V.

Each 16-bit or 34-bit GPIO on these devices is configurable, and each port has a programmable pull-up or pull-down resistor, and a programmable output current. Unlike many I/O expanders, PI4IOE5V6416Q and PI4IOE5V6534Q also provide programmable open-drain output as part of the enhanced I/O function. These devices have an interrupt mask function, allowing designers to mask interrupts from a single GPIO port and initiate system-level operations.

The 16-bit PI4IOE5V6416Q is in a 24-pin TSSOP package, and the 34-bit PI4IOE5V6534Q is in a W-QFN4565-46 package. Both devices are manufactured in IATF 16949 certified facilities and support PPAP documents.
